Hello Health’s Strategy in Managing the Delay of ICD-10

As you have no doubt heard, the transition to the ICD-10 coding sets has been postponed by the Federal government until at least October 2015.

To manage this delay, Hello Health is licensing a technology from Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), the market leader in medical terminology solutions. Using this intelligent tool, diagnostics will be captured through that vendor’s unified terminology. The system will simultaneously support three-way mapping between ICD-9, ICD-10 and SNOMED (as required for Meaningful Use). The system will still retain the most commonly used diagnostics for ease of selection. This functionality will be in place for our certification of Meaningful Use Stage II, and will deploy in production in late Q3 2014. Questions? Contact the Hello Health Support team.

Be ready!

Industry experts advise that taking the time now to make sound operational changes to improve the revenue cycle process will make it easier to identify and mitigate risk as the transition approaches. With a projected 30 to 40 percent dip in cash expected following the transition, improving billing efficiency and productivity will allow practices to be reimbursed accurately.
